 I am LeForis Lyon, the county coordinator for the Winston Co. MSGenWeb site. I have been researching my family history for about twenty-six years.  I am interested in the Lyon, Lampley, Sherrod, Coleman, Glass, Hathorn, Hoskin[s] and Gully family histories.  I have strong roots with Winston Co., Neshoba Co., Noxubee Co., and Kemper Counties from the early 1830's. 

I don't live in Winston Co. - I do visit there from time to time.  My success with this web site is very much dependent on the support from other Winston Co. researchers.  I look forward to continuing to work with you to make the Winston Co. site one of the best on the USGenWeb.  Please contact me at any time if I can be of assistance in any way.

Winston County Genealogical and Historical Society

The Winston County Genealogical and Historical Society meets 10 times a year, January through October on the 4th Wednesday of the month at the Winston County Library at 2:00 p.m.  The goals of the Society are to work together to preserve local history and acquire records and materials that are useful to researchers.  The Society also publish material that might be useful to others doing research on our county.

All of these publications are available at the Winston County Library.  They can also be ordered through the Society at P.O. Box 428, Louisville, MS 39339.  There is a $3.00 per book charge for mailing.

Note:  The Circuit Court Clerk is the keeper of the marriage records plus court records and is in charge of elections.  The Chancery Court Clerk has the deeds and wills.  There is no separate County Court Clerk in Winston County.  The court records available are shown in the Winston County Court Records Index available on this web site.
