Gordon, H. G. Langley Grocery Company, H. G. Hutcherson, Blon Harris, Louisville Theatre, Landis Shoe Shop with V. D. Rodgers, Proprietor, Richardson Dry Cleaners, who advertised their phone number as 79. Other local advertisers were: J. B. Ezell and The Holmes Store. C. C. McNeel, Tax Collector, advertised that he had the 1930 car and truck tags ready now because the penalty goes on all cars after December 31, 1929. Mr. McNeel also advised that the owners of vehicles should not fail to bring their motor number as tags could not be issued without the number. The doctors of Winston County advertised that some citizens are failing to settle their accounts and after a time lists will be prepared and exchanged with other doctors of those failing to settle their accounts. The notice was signed by the following doctors: Dr. W. W. Hickman, Dr. J. E. Anderson, Dr. E. L. Richardson, Dr. H. B. Watkins, Dr. S. W. Pearson, Dr. W. W. Parkes, Dr. O. F. Parkes, Dr. T. F. Kilpatrick, Dr. C. A. Kirk, Dr. L. T. Parkes, Dr. M. L. Montgomery and Dr. W. A. Young. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Smith of Leland spent from Saturday to Wednesday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Hight, going from here to Houston to spent the rest of the holidays with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, at Houston. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Abrams and two children are enjoying the Christmas holidays with relatives in Pinola, Ala. Paul Lee of Atlanta, Ga., spent the holidays here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Lee. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Strong of Jackson, Tenn. Attended the funeral of Coyt Hanna here on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Garland Harris of Birmingham, Ala. are here on a visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Harris. Miss Martha Townsend, who is taking a business course in Jackson, is here spending the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Townsend. Mr. and Mrs. Ethel Ballard of Starkville came over for Christmas and were guests of their parents, Dr. and Mrs. M. L. Montgomery. Miss Hazie Rodgers of M.S.C.W. is spending the holidays here with her mother, Mrs. Leta Rodgers. Miss Florence Gay, who is teaching at Sunflower is spending her vacation here with her sisters, Mrs. J. B. Ezell and Miss Lottie Gay. |

This publication follows his first volume that included excerpts from The Winston Signal for the years 1882,1885, 1886, 1889 and some issues of 1890 and which is still available from the author. Louis Taunton has published several other books. He has also published similar columns about Choctaw and Webster Counties. |
