100 and 75 Years AgoJanuary 27, 1905(The issue of January 20, 1905 is missing) Mr. W. D. Triplett has the sympathy of the community in the sudden death of his venerable mother, Mrs. S. A. Cooper, which occurred in Hattiesburg on Sunday last. Deceased was 71 years of age. Kosciusko Herald. The following good patrons have our thanks for recent remittances: S. J. Miller, J. A. Berry and N. W. Moore. Married at the residence of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Taylor, on January 8th, Ed. Whitten and Miss Effie Taylor, D. H. Roberts, M. B. S., officiating. Messrs. Charlie Baine and Blonde Harris have purchased an interest in the Baine Hardware and Furniture Store at Louisville, and Blonde has returned from Ackerman, and together with Charlie will give his entire time to the business. Mr. W. S. Nobles returned last week from a trip to his North Carolina home and brought with him a load of strawberry plants which he gave to Mr. W. H. Clark, who is becoming interested in the culture of this fruit with a view to raising it for market. Mr. Nobles gives glowing accounts of the great success the people are having raising strawberries in North Carolina. Married at the residence of Mr. J. O. Williams of Rural Hill, Winston County, Miss., father of the bride, on Thursday evening, the 5th day of January 1905, his pretty and amiable daughter, Miss Sallie, was married to Mr. J. J. Teat, one of Beat five’s and Attalla County’s best citizen, Esquire W. W. Brown, officiating in the presence of the bride’s immediate family of Winston County and E. R. Whittington of Attala County. Kosciusko Herald Morris Roach, the colored authority on law in the western portion of the county, remits for his paper. The McCool Reporter was received last week in its new form. It is ably edited by Rev. V. C. Curtis and Mr. J. S. Blumenberg. It is filled with good ads which speaks well for McCool’s live business men. We wish for the Reporter the long and prosperous life it so richly deserves. We call attention to the closing out sale at Kirkpatrick’s. Louis Taunton has published several other books. He has also published similar columns about Choctaw and Webster Counties. |
