Central: The enrollment at Central School is the largest we have had in
three years. It has grown to such an extent that Supt. McAlilly gave us the
eighth teacher, Miss Barzie McMillin.
Mr. John Ellis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hamp Ellis of Louisville, and Miss Rosie
Lee Metts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Metts, who reside a few miles west of
town, were married at the Baptist parsonage here last Saturday morning with Dr.
J. N. McMillin officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Gage of Freeport, Texas are visiting friends and
relatives here this week.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Dempsey a fine boy on the 6th inst.
Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Robinson and baby have returned from Wiggins, where they
wee called by the death of their brother, Dr. F. H. Robinson.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Clyde Fulton had as their guests last week, their sister,
Mrs. R. W. McCool and daughter, Frances, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Brantley of Columbus spent the weekend with their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Z. A. Brantley. Lamar left Thursday for New York, where
he will be transferred to South Carolina.
Noxapater: Mr. and Mrs. Cordie Webb are receiving congratulations upon the
arrival of a young son on October 31st.
Noxapater: Rev. H. H. Wallace returned home Monday evening from the annual
Conference, which convened at Corinth. Not only the Methodist congregation but
also friends of the other churches are extending to him a hearty welcome as
pastor of the Methodist Church for the coming year.
Noxapater: Mr. Herbert Johnson, son of Mr. Clark Johnson, and Miss Cynthia
Holman, a student at Noxapater A.H.S and daughter of John Holman, now of
Gulfport, were married Saturday evening at the Baptist Church with Rev. R. L.
McKee officiating.
Edward Gentry and Miss Mary Lue Connell, both residents of near Rome, were
married at Tutwiler by the Rev. J. O. Ousley were married on November 2. The
couple was accompanied by a brother of the bridegroom, Frank Gentry. This will
be of interest to Winston Countians as the bridegroom is the fourth son of W.
J. Gentry, a former citizen of Winston County having moved to the Delta some
years ago where he is rearing his fine family of six sons and three daughters.
All of the daughters have married and now the sons have begun to follow their
