LUCY ARAMINTA CARR (b. 11/7/1888 Winston Co., Miss.; d. 2/27/1969
Charlotte, NC; buried Calvary Church Cem, Chester Co., SC) was the
oldest daughter of JAMES SAMUEL 'BUSTER' CARR & KATY ELINOR MASSEY CARR.
She married IRA FESTUS CORNWELL and moved to the CORNWELL home in Baton
Rouge, SC (southwest portion of Chester Co., SC). LUCY CARR was a
schoolteacher in Louisville and graduated from Bennett Academy in
Clarkson, Miss. Her younger sisters were BEATRICE CARR MCALILLEY and
OPHELIA CARR HEATH, both buried in the Masonic Cem. in Louisville, Miss.
The CARR family lived on Metts St. in Louisville. After her mother's
death in 1893, the girls were raised by their aunt MARY ALICE CARR
(sister of J. S. CARR). In Baton Rouge, SC, LUCY was a farmer's wife,
Sunday School teacher, newspaper correspondent, and leader in the
various women's civic groups in the local farming community. She raised
five CORNWELL children with husband IRA CORNWELL.

JAMES SAMUEL "BUSTER" CARR (1860-1946), JAMES is the youngest child of
SAMUEL & NANCY MCMILLIN CARR. James is buried at CENTER RIDGE CHURCH
with his 2nd wife MATTIE STARK and several
other CARR relatives. His first wife KATY ELINOR MASSEY CARR dies in
1893. JAMES & KATY MASEEY [the gravesite of his 1st wife KATY MASSEY in
Attala Co. in the Doty Spring Church Cem (off Rt 41, east
end, on Hannah Rd], had three daughters, BEATRICE, OPHELIA, and LUCY,
the family lived on METTS St. in Louisville, Miss. BEATRICE MCALILLEY
and OPHELIA HEATH are buried with husbands in the Masonic Cemetery. LUCY
CARR CORNWELL (maternal
grandmother of my wife) is buried with husband IRA F. CORNWELL & her
CORNWELL family in Chester Co., SC.

This is Louis LeFlore McGahey, Jr.
Born: November 10, 1848 in Winston County, MS
Married: Louisa Mann on March 12, 1868 in Winston County
Died: February 1932
Buried: New Hope Cemetery, Louisville, MS
Parents: Louis LeFlore McGahey, Sr. and Mary Krebs
Louis Jr. was the great-grandson of Louis LeFleur/LeFlore and Nancy
Caravet. Nancy Caravet was the sister to Rebecca Caravet, mother to
Greenwood LeFlore, last chieftain of the Mississippi Band of Choctaws
and signer of the Dancing Rabbit Creek Treaty in the 1830's.

This is Mary Belle McGahey, daughter of Louis McGahey, Jr. and Louisa
Mann.
Born: August 29, 1891 in Winston County, MS
Married: Robert/Ruel Neal White around 1908 in Winston County, MS
Remarried to C. A. McClanahan on September 10, 1916 in Winston County.
Died: May 18, 1921 in Winston County, MS
Buried: New Hope Cemetery, Louisville, MS

This is Robert or Ruel Neal White (called Neal), son of James Alonzo
White and Callie Wofford.
Born: February 18, 1886 in Winston County, MS
Married to Belle McGahey around 1908 in Winston County
Moved to Oklahoma with tuberculosis around 1915 to live with his
sisters there.
Died: March 21, 1917 in Sarah, Oklahoma.
Buried: Doxey-Sayre Cemetery, Sarah, Oklahoma
Neal and his brother Tom White ran a sawmill operation in the
Webster/Bond/Murphy Creek community. After Neal moved to Oklahoma, his
mother Callie took over the sawmill with son Tom.
Belle and Neal White are my great-grandparents.
