Estate of James W. McAdory

The following letter of administration was attached to a probate report I received from Winston County Probate Record Books 4A, 1849 – 1851, pages 140-147. I have no idea who these people are. For the benefit of any interested party I have transcribed the portion I have. My interpretation of the deceased’s name is highly suspect.

Probate Court October term A.D. 1849.

In the matter of the estate of James W. McAdory deceased.

On reading and filing the petition of William F. Lewis, a creditor of said deceased this day preferred. And upon taking and reading the relinquishment of Jacob F. McAdory & that H--- McAdory the brother of said decedent, Elizabeth Hisaw the sister and her husband Isaac Hisaw, Sarah F. Hickman, the sister of decedent and her husband William Hickman and Susan S. McAdory the sister of said decedent next of kin and who are all of lawful age wherein they renounce all right to letters of administration on the estate of said decedent and pray this court to grant letters of administration to William L. Lewis of this county on the estate of said James W. McAdory, deceased. The court being fully advised in the premises doth thereupon -pray that letters of administration upon said estate be granted to said William F. Lewis upon his taking the oath prescribed by law and entering into bond according to the form of the statute in the sum of ---.
