She was b. 1856 and d. 1936. Her father was Isom Phelps Haynes and her mother was Catherine Farris. Isom's brother was John Howard Aikens. Their father may have been named John Floyd Aikens. Oral tradition says that he left for Texas and never came back and his wife never joined him. The name is spelled Aikens or Aiken or Akin. Thanks. 1997 I am searching for some brothers and sisters of my grandmother. Her name was Viola Dorothy DEASON, b.Feb 1885 in Lotterdale CO, MS; d. 1968 in Greenwod Leflore CO, MS. Her family is suspected of living in WINSTON CO. Her brother, Luther Quitman DEASON, married Willie and had 3 sons: Carlton, Clifton and Voty (sp?). Her sisters were: 1)Lillie, who never married; 2)Cora, who married an ESTES (sp?) and had a son named T.D. ESTES; and 3)Velma, who married a COLEMAN, they had one son: Bulter COLEMAN. Archibald HOLT served in the Capt. George Bowen’s Comp in the Regt of SC volunteers under the command of Col. Nash in the War of 1812. Archibald was first married to Rebecca FULLER in SC. He appears in Laurens Co on the 1820 census. His wife Rebecca died in 1827 in Abbeville Co SC. Archibald married again to Emeline STRAIN in 1833 at Abbeville Co SC. Their family remained in Abbeville Co until 1849 when they moved to Winston Co MS. Archibald HOLT died Sep 8 1862 in Winston Co MS. Emeline moved to Shelby Co TX in 1869 where she lived until her death in 1897. Archibald had a brother named Israel HOLT. They had seven children (Mary Ann, William David, Thomas Elcanie, James Monroe, Francis Marion, Elisha Andrew, Eliza Amanda Matilda). Mary died 28 MAY 1864, perhaps in IL during the Civil War and may be buried there. Mary's dau Francis had died only 13 days earlier on her fifth birthday, implying the cause of their deaths was a contagious disease. Her dad may be Thomas Garner. This James married Nancy Thurmand in ca1802 and is mentioned in her father's will. He moved first to TN then to Pickens Co. AL before that Co. was formed. He is there in the late teens as his home was one of the first three polling places. James and family were in Pickins Co. on the 1830 census. In 1835 James signed a 99 year lease on some "school land" in Winston Co. MS. In Jan. of 1844 he sold this lease and moved to AR probably Drew Co. Several of his chn. married in Winston Co. ie, Susan to Wm. F. Johnson, Stokely to Shelby Mcleod 2nd Elizabeth Howard and Elizabeth to Deal Jackson or Jackson Deal. Another individual I'm tracing with Winston Co. roots is James FULLERTON Jr. He was born 1800 in Ireland came to US in 1817 and married 2nd Elizabeth Ellison on 2 Feb. 1841 in Winston Co. He died shortly afterward and Elizaberh is on the 1850 census in Winston as a widow. James had two chn. who lived to full age Margaret Elvira 1829-1919 and Juliett Elmira 1831-1865. She was born 1825 in Georgia. She was slave and her slaveowner'name was John G. Hyde. She had about ten children. One of her son was named Jack Hyde born in 1865, but do not know when or how he died. On January 3, 1889, he married a Mary Bryant. They had about six children and on of the children was my grandfather, Tolly Hyde. He was born in 1899 and died in 1978. I do not know when Mary Hyde died. Her parents names were George and Mary Bryant. They were born in Virginia, but I do know who were their slaverowners. Tolly Hyde is my father's father and my father's mother name was Minnie Dancy. Minnie' parents name were Fred Nick Dancy and Quantillia Spain or Spainn. Fred was born on July 1, 1896 and died 1987. I don't have any info on the Dancy side of the family. All these people lived in Shuqualak,MS. Except John G. Hyde. The name, Feemster is from my mother side. My grandfather was Charles Feemster and he married a Mattie Harmon or Hermon. I do not have any dates on Charles Feemster, but they did lived Macon, MS. I have made contact with John G. Hyde's grgrgranddaughter,but she didn't have too much on her grgrgrandfather. I know he was born in Georgia and moved the MS around the 1840s. He was married to a Martha and they had about six children. One of the children,Elizabeth married John Cockrell (not sure of the spelling). I don't if Millie was a gift from John G. Hyde's father in Georgia, but they were the same age. John G. Hyde died in 1858 and his wife,Martha and children were mention in his will. My grgrgrandmother, Millie wasn't in the will, but somewhere in the MS Slave Schedule, Martha Hide is there with eleven slaves. I also saw John Cockrell there. The area, I am researching is Noxubee and Winston counties. I am also trying to locate a cemetary on the Anderson place. My aunt said, the cemetary was destroyed when a dam was build,but my cousin said it is still there. If it is, I was told the name of the cemetary is Mohican on Mohican Road. It might be covered with weeds woods and have snakes. The cemetary was closed for a long time. 1997 Seeking information on the LANCASTER/IVY family who shows up on the 1850 through 1870 Winston Co. censuses. Hayden B. LANCASTER b. c1822 in Tenn married Mary (Polly) IVY c. 1847 in Mississippi. Mary was probably born in SC. Hayden enlisted in Co. D, 11th Regiment, Perrin's Mississippi Cavalry and in spring of 1864 from his wounds. Anson also served with same Regiment but survived the war. He was supposedly wounded and eventually died from wound complications. His wife Narcisa LANCASTER appears on Winston Co. Census by herself withouT Anson is listed as born in South Carolina. I believe their father to be Samuel LANCASTER, Sr. who is listed in the Cherokee Co. Alabama 1850 Census. There is an Adaline listed there who also married an IVY. Samuel Sr. is listed as born in Tenn. Any information on HAYDEN B.
