Evelyn Tue Nov 19 19:58:59 1996 MASSEY Looking for Henry C. D. Massey's parents. Henry was born 1811 Alabama married 1842 in Winston Co., MS to Louisa Krebs. Jean Williams Tue Nov 19 18:57:08 1996 HYDE / BRYANT / DANCY / FEEMSTER I am researching the surnames, Hyde, Bryant, Dancy, and Feemster. My grgrgrandmother's name was Millie Hyde. She was born 1825 in Georgia. She was slave and her slaveowner'name was John G. Hyde. She had about ten children. One of her son was named Jack Hyde born in 1865, but do not know when or how he died. On January 3, 1889, he married a Mary Bryant. They had about six children and on of the children was my grandfather, Tolly Hyde. He was born in 1899 and died in 1978. I do not know when Mary Hyde died. Her parents names were George and Mary Bryant. They were born in Virginia, but I do know who were their slaverowners. Tolly Hyde is my father's father and my father's mother name was Minnie Dancy. Minnie' parents name were Fred Nick Dancy and Quantillia Spain or Spainn. Fred was born on July 1, 1896 and died 1987. I don't have any info on the Dancy side of the family. All these people lived in Shuqualak,MS. Except John G. Hyde. The name, Feemster is from my mother side. My grandfather was Charles Feemster and he married a Mattie Harmon or Hermon. I do not have any dates on Charles Feemster, but they did lived Macon, MS. I have made contact with John G. Hyde's grgrgranddaughter, but she didn't have too much on her grgrgrandfather. I know he was born in Georgia and moved the MS around the 1840s. He was married to a Martha and they had about six children. One of the children,Elizabeth married John Cockrell (not sure of the spelling). I don't if Millie was a gift from John G. Hyde's father in Georgia, but they were the same age. John G. Hyde died in 1858 and his wife,Martha and children were mention in his will. My grgrgrandmother, Millie wasn't in the will, but somewhere in the MS Slave Schedule, Martha Hide is there with eleven slaves. I also saw John Cockrell there. The area, I am researching is Noxubee and Winston counties. I am also trying to locate a cemetary on the Anderson place. My aunt said, the cemetary was destroyed when a dam was build, but my cousin said it is still there. If it is, I was told the name of the cemetary is Mohican on Mohican Road. It might be covered with weeds woods and have snakes. The cemetary was closed for a long time. Thanks Kay Rockett Sun Oct 20 22:23:10
