WHITTEN (born 1850 in MS) in 1867 in Winston County. Their families lived near Gum Branch, and they sold land adjoining D.W. SPIVA and H.W. LONG near Noxubee Hill in 1887 and 1890. Lucy A. Long of Neshoba County bought and sold land near Noxapater in 1891 and 1893. Did this family move to Neshoba? Lucinda died sometime before 1896, and John died in 1896. According to John's obiturary, he was buried next to Lucinda in Antioch Cemetery, leaving "two motherless girls to mourn for him." John and Lucinda's graves are apparently unmarked. Does anyone know anything about this family? I believe they may be kin to H.W. Long who is also buried in Antioch. I am curious about what happened to these orphaned daughters. Thanks. They appear as newlyweds in the 1870 Winston census in the New Prospect community next door to David's brother John FOSTER and his wife Hannah EAVES FOSTER. David and John were sons of Asa FOSTER (b. 1810 GA) and Martha Jane JINKS (b. 1838 MS), and their brother Thomas S. FOSTER is buried next to his wife Josephine in Good Hope Cemetery. I believe J.K. was from the Webster community and may be kin (son?) to Lettie STARK, also from Webster. J.K. and Jane are listed in the 1880 Choctaw census with infant daughter Edna V. (b. 1879) and on the 1900 Winston census with second wife Margaret and son Homer B. (b. 1898). The time line looks like this: J.K. Stark and Mary Jane Whitten married 1873 in Winston County. Edna V. Stark was born 1879, probably Choctaw County. Jane died around 1897? Can't find grave. J.K. Stark remarried to Margaret CHANCELLOR in 1897 in Winston County. Homer B. Stark born July 1898 in either Winston or Choctaw County. Edna V. Stark married Weston HUNT in 1899 in Winston County. J.K. Stark died 1923 and was buried in Bethel Cemetery (near Sturgis). Edna Stark Hunt died 1929 and was buried next to J.K. in Bethel Cemetery. Weston Hunt remarried to Lector Lena SAVAGE in 1929 in Winston County. Weston Hunt died in 1966 and was buried next to Edna in Bethel Cemetery. Lector Lena Hunt died in 1971 and was buried next to Weston in Bethel Cemetery. Edna Stark Hunt apparently had a brother named Jake K. Stark, Jr. (b. circa 1880) who was married to Nannie B. Stark. Jake and Nannie are in the 1900 Winston census with their uncle James C. living with them. Can anyone help me with this family? I will share any info I have in exchange. Thanks, Posted by Mary K. Jim is the son of Pleasant WHITTEN and Caroline SPENCER. Sallie is the daughter of Fannie BARRON. Jim and Sallie are on the 1870 Winston living in the Gum Branch community next to Fannie Barron with two children: Larla (b. 1869) and Robert (1869). They are on the 1880 Choctaw census in Beat 3 French Camp Village with these children: Lula (Larla?) (b. 1868), Cora (b. 1872), Dick (b. 1874), and Ada (b. 1876). Both Jim's and Sallie's families lived in the Gum Branch area of Winston County, but they apparently moved to French Camp, at least for a while. Also, Sallie sold land in Winston County in 1903 but listed her address as Delta County, Texas. Does anyone know anything about this family? Thanks.
